Dr. Lubna Latif is a highly experienced Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with over 33 years of clinical experience. After graduating in medicine, she completed psychiatric training through the Coventry and Warwickshire Royal College rotational programme. A move into Child and Adolescent Psychiatry followed in 2007, providing invaluable experience that led to Specialist Registration in 2015.
Work across a range of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) has shaped a well-rounded expertise, spanning community care, intensive support teams, and inpatient units. Currently involved in developing the CAMHS Home Treatment Team in Stoke-on-Trent, Dr. Latif has been practising at Blurton Health Centre, South Stoke, since 2017.
Specialist knowledge covers the diagnosis and treatment of mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions in children and adolescents, including mood and anxiety disorders, psychosis, eating disorders, emerging personality disorders, autism, ADHD, and Tourette syndrome. As an approved clinician with Section 12(2) approval, Dr. Latif is authorised to act as an approved doctor in England.
Training in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), a recognised treatment for chronic self-harm and suicidality, complements a broad skill set in evidence-based psychological therapies. Five years as part of the systemic family therapy team in Coventry CAMHS further strengthened a holistic approach to care.
Beyond therapeutic expertise, experience extends to risk assessment, treatment planning, and safe prescribing. A commitment to ongoing professional development ensures that knowledge remains current, aligning with the latest advancements in the field.
